Note to self:
Dear Self,
You do not need to get the new IPhone tomorrow. I know it's all shiny and pretty, but there is absolutely nothing wrong the gen. 1 IPhone that you already own. After all, you've only had it since Christmas. So do not - I repeat - do NOT go to the AT&T store tommorrow. That is all.

Yeah girl, it would be the whole $199.00! So you got it and you love it??? You're not supposed to tell me that! lol
I'm still considering it, but I wanna talk to someone who had the gen 1 to see if there really is a huge difference in the speed. I just recently heard something about not being able to connect to the 3G network from this area.... does that even make any sense? I didn't know there was any special "network" that you had to connect to to gain additional speed.... (?) The people that had it were probably just running their mouths. =)
That would be the best thing to do because I don't know the major changes that they made to the 3G other then the fact that it's "3G". I am in Louisiana right now and the 3G coverage isn't good but I will be moving back to California next month and the 3G is excellent in my area. You can go to the AT&T website a view a map of the areas that have 3G coverage. I thought 3G was everywhere but apparently not. I'm not sure if people know this. Some are probably living in areas that don't even have 3G!
Anyhow, upgrading may not even be worth it for you. Did you the 2.0 software upgrade?? I heard it was causing some problems on the 1st gen phones. You may already know about this but there is a blog on vox that is dedicated to the iPhone 3G. There is some good articles, you should check it out.

lol...so did the self-talk work?
BTW- first time reading your blog. Hope you don't mind me popping in :-p
Hey T.MT! Are you kidding? Of course I don't mind you passing through. I hope you come back, soon!
The self-talk did work. Although about a week later, I was about to break down until I found out that the 3G network -or whatever it is- is not even available where I live, yet. No big surprise, there!! So even though I usually complain about this little bitty town -- it actually helped me save 199.00 that I didn't need to spend in the first place. So there - that is the one good thing about living here. It took 8 years of living here to find something. lol
lol...thanks, I added you to my hood. Thanks for adding me back :)
And I'm still tempted to buy that phone but I haven't yet...so far, so good. I live in southern Cali, so there's no way the network isn't available here :-p We'll see what happens.
Oh, SoCal? I'm sure you'll have no problem connecting to the network - lucky duck!!! Here are a few things that you should check before you buy --
The gen.1 phone cannot receive pics which means that any time someone sends you a pic you'll have to go online and pull it up from viewmymessage.com using the username and password provided. Both the username and passwords are always really stupid -- the whole process is a REAL pain in the ass. You also cannot send pics to phones, so if you want to send a pic, you'll actually have to email it to them.
Also, there's no IM, which I guess is not a real big deal since you can always text people instead.
Even with those 2 MAJOR things, I still really like my phone. THey may have even taken care of them on the 3G but you might wanna check first - just in case.
but still i would say BUY IT BUY IT, GO TO AT&T LOL, sorry im evil i know, but i just love iPhone! LOL
LOL!! That's just wrong!
