]]>For the 3rd day in a row - we have NO A/C on the this side of the office building!!! It is HOTTTTT up in here!!! Now I KNOW it's hot because I usually am the very last person to feel warm. So, if I'm sweating it's a wonder someone else hasn't died. Now the simple solution would be to contact the A/C people and schedule for them to come check us out, but nothing is ever really that simple.
Tuesday, I noticed that it was rather warm in here by the end of the day. I figured that the combination of the heat from outside and the hardware in here had just overpowered the AC & we hadn't adjust the thermostat in enough time to get it comfortable in here. Wednesday, by mid-morning, it was painfully obvious that there was something wrong with the AC, so I asked the President's assistant to call the AC people and see if someone could come out. Well she mentioned it to the Lulu, office manager, and that's where it ALL went wrong. Apparently went off about calling someone out b/c we always want to waste money and there's nothing wrong with the AC, it's just hot because of the outside temperature and we're running all of this machinery. By 4:00 p.m. it was 80 degrees in here!!! I was FURIOUS!!! Lulu and the assistant have had more than there share of differences over the years and I honestly believe that Lulu didn't want the assistant to call JUST because the assistant was the one that brought it to her attention. Does that make sense? So mean while I'm up in this bitch poaching b/c of somebody's personal bullshit.
The President of the company called in on the main line about 4:30 and I just so happened to answer the phone. When he asked how I was doing, I doing him that I was on the verge of melting and that I had set a fan up on my desk about 18 inches away from my face. He knows I'M ALWAYS COLD, so it MUST be hot up in this mammajamma! He asked me to transfer me to his assistant and told her to call the damned AC people. What a novel idea!!
The AC people are going to try to get here today, but it may be tomorrow before they are help to come look at the unit... If we had called yesterday morning, I may not have even had to type this post with my sweaty fingers.
I might have to kill someone in this heat by the time they show up. I don't do well in the heat.
UPDATE: I ENDED UP CLOSING MY OFFICE EARLY ON THURSDAY. IT WAS JUST TOO HOT FOR US TO BE SITTING IN HERE. THE FANS WERE JUST BLOWING HOT AIR ON US AND I WAS GETTING MORE AND MORE PISSED OFF AS THE DAY WORE ON. THE AC PEOPLE ARRIVED FRIDAY MORNING. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS WRONG WITHT HE AC WAS THAT THE UNIT WAS EXTREMELY DIRTY WHICH CAUSED IT TO MALFUNCTION. A DIRTY AC UNIT??? REALLY??? I WAS REALLY BURNING UP BECAUSE OF SOME OFFICE JACKASS BEING STUBBORN AND A DIRTY AC UNIT??!!??! RIDICULOUS!!!!
]]>What was your biggest cooking disaster?
I had only been in my house for a few months when I decided to invite my Dad and his sisters over for dinner. My Mom was in town visiting, but refused to stay at the house while my Dad was there, which was stressful enough. I had worked all day and instead of doing the smart thing and throwing something in the crockpot, I decided to make some vegetarian lasagna that I had never made before.
In my haste I read the measurement for the chicken broth incorrectly and ended up putting in WAAAAAY too much. I noticed after putting in the rest of the ingredients that the concoction was still too soupy. I tried to salvage the dish by pouring most of the liquid out, but then the other ingredients were falling out, too.
In the end it, was a very unsuccessful dinner. I had to serve it because I didn't have anything else to serve and I had spent a lot of the little money that I had on the dinner. The veggie lasagna soup had a good taste, but it was not at all what I or anyone else had expected. My wonderful family ate it with not so much as a giggle - at least not in front of me.

I'm thinking about making some soup today. I found a recipe for Zuppa Toscana soup which would be wonderful since this week is supposed to be dreary.
